(It's very easy)

As soon as you are a registered member (sign up here) some of you will want to dive right in and work it out for yourself (the 'When it looks like like a ladder instead of a dollhouse THEN I'll read the instructions" theory), for others these step by step instructions will guide you to placing your first listing on CatDog (you can print this page out if you wish, click the 'print' icon just above).

ADDING A LISTING (or two…)

You must be logged on otherwise you cannot add a listing(s) - to be able to login you need to have registered, click the link on the top menu or click here

1. Login with your USERNAME and PASSWORD (via the login section on the right side).

Tick the box ‘Remember Me’ it make it easier next time you log on (only do this if you are using your own computer or if shared if you trust the other users – we do not recommend ticking this box if using a public computer).

2. If you have forgotten your username click either the appropriate "Forgot..." link and follow the instructions.

Once you have logged on…

3. On the Menu Bar above (just below the CatDog logo) click “Browse Listings” (or hover over it for a drop down menu).
4. Choose the Country or Region you wish to place your listings in.

5. Choose the State (if this option is presented to you in your country or region) you wish to place your listing in.
6. Select your category (Breeders, Charities, etc).

Say you wish to advertise as breeder in the Burmese Cat section...

7. Click “Cat Breeders”
8. Click “Cat Breeds A-K”
9. Click “Burmese”
10. Click “Add Your Listing Here”

This is just below the description of the Burmese cat and to the right of the heading ‘Listings’

You will now be on the page where you can fill in your listing details!

It is important that you complete ALL the sections that are marked in bold (these are required) – the other sections are optional.

11. First and foremost check that you are in the right category section – if not click the “Manage Category” link to change it.

Please note: We will NOT accept one line listings/adverts for publishing

ADDING AN IMAGE (or two…)

Standard Members may add one image per listing (can be a different image per listing however). Premium Members may have up to FIVE images per listing…

12. Whilst still in ‘edit mode’ (while still writing your advert) click the link "Add An Image" (just before the Submit button).
13. A pop up box will appear use this to locate the image on your computer that you want use in your listing; when you've found it click on the image name and then click OK
14. If adding more than one picture (Premium Members can have up to 5 per listing) simply repeat step #13

Note: You MUST keep the image under 1MB, otherwise your listing will be lost (fail to submit) and you will have to start over…

15. Once you are happy with everything click the "Submit" button
16. All done!

The listing will now be submitted to the team at CatDog for approval and once approved you will be advised by email - you should then check your listing for accuracy (we just check it for appropriate content and correct category placement).

You can go ahead and add more listings in other categories/sections in the same way.

Standard Members can have up to a total of 4 listings, Premium Members can have unlimited listings.

17. Log out by clicking the 'Log Out' button in the same area you logged in
18. As soon as your listing has been approved you will receive an automatic confirmation – we recommend you check your listing for accuracy.

ALL new listings are auto added to the "Latest..." section on the right side menu plus dependent on your membership level it can also appear in the 'Featured...', the 'Popular...'; the 'Top Rated...' and 'Top Reviews...' sections also on the right side.

All members may randomly appear in the 'Member Showcase' at the bottom of the page (random system selection).

Tip: This website is not just a directory consider it your advertising medium, so please take time to write your advert - Google, Yahoo, Live and all the other major search engines regularly index (survey) our site. 'Content is King' is ever true on the internet and on CatDog - a smartly written advert with good use of keywords will be 'noticed' by the search engines (which is why we don't accept one line listings) and you may find your listing featuring prominently in search results – this provides you with a double chance to ‘seen’ (along with your website).

ADDING MORE THAN ONE LISTING AT THE SAME TIME

If you are entitled to add more than one listing eg you might be adding a listing one of the categories the UK section and the World-Wide section - because your business/hobby is in the UK and you also ship internationally then you don't have to write the same listing twice...

After clicking "Add Your Listing"  the link "Manage Category" (just above the Listing Title) - click that and then navigate to the other categories/sections by double clicking on the  '<back' link etc until you get to the category/section you also want the advert to appear - then click "Also Appear in this category" (do that as many times as you need to for that particular listing) and once your listing is written click Submit!

BE ADVISED! If for any reason one of the listings is deleted that are multi-listed this way then unfortunately ALL the other listings that were linked will be deleted...

EDITING YOUR LISTING

If you ever want to edit your listing (say your contact details have changed or you have a special promotion etc) then….

  1. Log in as you have done so before
  2. Just below the Log Out” button is a link "Your Listings" - click that...
  3. All your listings are now presented for you to edit, just click 'EDIT' on the listing you wish to edit and then make the necessary additions or alterations

All listing edits are also subject to approval before being published

ONLY YOU can edit your listing and only when you log on – so keep your password to CatDog safe!

NOTES FOR INTERNATIONAL ADVERTISERS

You can only place a listing in the country/location that you live eg if you live in Australia you can place a listing in the Australia sections

ANYONE can place a listing in the World-Wide section provided you offer international shipping for your products and/or services (so effectively you can place a listing in both your own country AS WELL AS the World-Wide section).

WRITE ONLY IN ENGLISH?

Ads should not have phone numbers, email address or website links in them – these are actually shown separately (in your details above your listing content - use the space to write your advertising not your contact details!
