Article Submission Agreement

Thank-you for wanting to become an Author on CatDog.

We get tens of thousands of visitors to our site, so submitting an article(s) is probably one of the best ways to share your specialist Cat/Dog knowledge and in doing so promote yourself, your business and/or your hobby. Despite the fact you will be promoting your business and/or hobby we do NOT require it to be a Cat and/or Dog business and/or hobby only the article has to be...

Before you can become an approved Author on CatDog you should be aware of our conditions, if you agree to these (and they are not unreasonable anyway) then contact David (The Administrator) here and simply write (copy n paste) the following into the message box: "I have read the conditions of becoming an Author for CatDog and agree".

As soon as we receive your email we will elevate your membership level to Author and you will be able to write and submit your articles when you wish.

Conditions

By submitting an article for publishing on CatDog you agree:

  1. That the article you submit will be solely about cats and/or dogs.
  2. You are the original author of each article that you submit and that you have exclusive rights to each article you submit.
  3. All articles are pre-approved before being published and there is no guarantee that your article will be accepted for publication at all. It is the sole discretion of the administration team of CatDog and/or its appointed agents whether or not to include your article on its website.
  4. Even if published, we reserve the right to remove any article at any time.
  5. CatDog publishes at least ONE new article every TWO days and as such your article may not appear immediately should it be approved.
  6. We reserve the right to choose a more suitable category for your article if we find that it has been incorrectly classified.
  7. By submitting your articles to CatDog, you agree to allow us to publish your article in RSS format for other websites to syndicate.
  8. You agree and understand that CatDog is a free publishing service for authors and that you will not be paid for submitting your article to our sites and you will not be paid if and when your articles are published. You will receive all credit for your work and your information provided it meets our 'Author Info' criteria.
  9. You agree to not include any affiliate links in the body of your article.
  10. We reserve the right to include advertising on pages displaying your articles.
  11. CatDog and/or its agents have the final say on whether an article is published or not and no correspondence will be entered into.

Submitting An Article

To submit an article for publishing on CatDog you must log in and therefore you must already be a member of CatDog.

As an Author and once logged in a number of links will be visible to you on the right side column (not seen by regular members). As an author you will see three relevant links: "Add A Cat Article" "Add A Dog Article" and "Add A Cats & Dogs Article" - select that one that applies to the article you wish to write.

You can post articles at anytime as they are pre-approved before being published and will be auto-published to a date as chosen by the admin team of CatDog. You can publish as many articles as you want, however we generally try to spread articles by authors out (this is not always the case) so we don't simply have one author dominate our article section at any one time.

Article Content Requirements (including use of images)

  1. Do not include any affiliate program links.
  2. Submit one article to one category only.
  3. You may include up to 3 images in your article either from the CatDog database or supplied by you.
  4. You may include up to 2 hyperlinks in an article (all anchor text links have the 'nofollow' tag).
  5. You may include up to 1 hyperlinks in your Author Bio (all anchor text links have the 'nofollow' tag).
  6. Images added to your article may not be larger that 150px x 150px and cannot exceed 150bytes in size and you must be the copyright owner of any image submitted and used by you in your article.
  7. Every article must have a one paragraph intro. Please use the 'Read more...' button (at the bottom of your article box) to separate the intro from the rest of the article - this shows up on thye front page of CatDog as a 'teaser' to the actual articles (the reader clicks 'Read More', so make it interesting!
  8. Description Box: Please select up to 35 words that best describes your article in the '"Decription" box at the end of your article - usually this is either the opening sentence or the summary sentence.
  9. Keywords Box: Please add no more than 25 highly relevant keywords or phrases each separated by a comma in the 'Keywords" box at the end of your article - this will help surfers around the world find your article when they use their preferred search engines provided your keywords and your article are relevant to their search. Non-relevant keywords will be removed.
  10. Articles that are advertisements, or appear to be advertisements, will be considered spam and will not be approved for publication.
  11. Assign the correct Category to your article
  12. Your article will always been seen on the front page on the day it is published and for several days after that
  13. Your article should have a Public access level (all visitors can read it)

Author Sign-Off And Author Self or Company Promotion

We want you to be able to promote yourself but we do not want to spam our readers or other members!

  1. As a member of CatDog please ensure your profile in CatDog's JungleBook is up to date and valid, every article is automatically linked to your profile on JungleBook.
  2. At the end of each article you may include; (Line#1) your name preceded by the phrase: 'Article Written By:",(Line#2) a short bio on yourself and (Line#3) ONE link to your website eg

Promoting Yourself On Facebook (everyone does!)

  1. You can promote EACH AND EVERY ONE of your articles on your Facebook page by opening your article (once published) and clicking the "share..." Facebook link in the right column
  2. Facebook have also just approved a CatDog application which you can also add to your Facebook page here.

Formatting

  1. Article Title: A maximum of 100 characters and minimum of 2 words. Do not use ALL CAPS or CAPITALS ONLY (it's considered to be shouting and rude). Do not have the name of your company or website in the title.
  2. Your author name should not appear in the title.
  3. Article Body: A minimum of 300 words and a maximum length of 15,000 characters - if more then consider writing it as a series (eg Part I, Part II etc).
  4. Do not use HTML other than those provided by the buttons in the article editor


  6. Do not use hard breaks in your article, only at the end of a paragraph (clicking Enter ONCE)
  7. Bold, italicise, style or underline only text that needs to be emphasised, not the entire article
  8. Make sure to use paragraphs (clicking Enter ONCE)
  9. Do not over format your article! - keep it simple!

Illegal/Objectionable Subject Matter

  1. We do not allow articles on pornography, escort services, sex toys, violence, illegal subjects (such as movie downloads), potentially dangerous information, or hate speech. This includes both written and visual material. This is by no means an exhaustive list, and CatDog reserves the right to reject any article.
  2. Articles cannot include plagiarised material from any other person or source. You must own 100% of the article you publish.
  3. Articles should not link to or promote online gambling sites.
  4. If in our sole opinion we deem your article inappropriate we will not publish it and we may revoke your membership to CatDog and if necessary advise appropriate authorities if your content is illegally objectionable.
